~FUCK YEAH TUCKER FOLEY~

A Blog dedicated to the awesome red beret-wearing techno geek of "Danny Phantom" fame, Tucker Foley. Who obviously and seriously needs more love around the net. Remember: October is Tucker Appreciation Month! Also don't forget to submit anything Tucker-related if you can!

Day 8: Tucker

caninescreations:

The walls were washed a faded white, just like the ceiling and the floor and the thin, pathetic excuse for a curtain danglng from the rod above the window and the layers and layers of sheets bundling up the weak figure resting in the bed. Tucker was only ten, and his grandmother had taken a terrible fall down the stairs. Her normally full and rosy face looked gaunt and sickly, her soft hair splayed bahind her like a halo of brown. Her eyes, though, still sparkled; brimming with life and mirth despite the pain her broken hip caused. She held his hand as he tried to hold back his tears.
“Will you be okay?” his voice was quiet. He’d always been close to his grandmother. His backpack rested forgotten at the foot of his chair, every piece of tech he owned stowed away and rather useless. The room was quiet for a litle while while she gathered her breath.
“Of course, child, this is your grandmother we’re talkin’ about. I’m made of stronger stuff than you’d think.” Her smile manages to reach her eyes, and Tucker feels better- if only by a slim margin- and the corners of his mouth twitched up slightly as he tried to return her reassuring look. Her thumb smooths over the back of his hand and they sit together quietly, but no longer somberly.
A few weeks later, his grandmother returns. She walks with a cane though, and every step is accompanied by the smallest wince. He’s hated hospitals ever since.
————
Staring up at the dilapidated North Mercy Hospital, Danny held in his arms, he’s reminded of exactly what he hates about hospitals. The help they give is never enough, has never been enough, and handing Danny to the masked guards- with their hidden faces and ugly goggles and garrish hoses protruding from thier outhpieces keeping their oxygen untainted- feels like sentencing him to death. Dr. Rand wheels him off, chattering in that annoyingly chipper tone and looking like Death warmed over. You stand there forelorn and terrified, swallowing the softball sized lump in your throat. He’ll be okay, Tucker chants in his head, Danny will be okay.
——
It’s been a while now. Tucker hasn’t paced, hasn’t fidgeted, merely sent frequent, furtive glances about as if he were being watched. The guards standing by the door either don’t notice or don’t care that he’s standing there. Tucker would wager on the latter, considering he was standing not fifteen feet from the door. A slow, creeping sense of fear has taken hold in his chest- what was going on? He wanted to know, but at the same time he just wanted to run far, far away.
“AAAUGH!” Tucker’s head whipped up to the next floor. Had that been Danny? He was frozen to the spot.
“Well, it’s not a cry for help…” Something in his stomach twisted as he heard what appeared to be an answering call.
“HELP-!” He swallowed the rising bile.
“…It wasn’t for me…?” He tried in vain to deny the fact that this time, Danny /couldn’t/ handle the problem himself.
“TUCKER!” came a desperate shriek from the second or third floor. The fear weaving itself through the scream shocked him out of his petrification- Danny needed his help, and so did Sam.
For a moment, his nerves were steeled and he was ready, ecto lip balm in hand. “Don’t worry Danny, the calvary’s coming.” He took another glance up at the ruined building, “Whether he wants to or not…”

Day 8: Tucker

I know a lot of people are submitting late but I still feel really bad about this.

I made a Renaissance Tucker to go with this since one of my frustrations was that Sam really needed a hat to look authentic but someone in the trio already had a monopoly on berets.

And so now I’ve got all these ideas for a Clockpunk-Renaissance-Italy AU which I am tentatively calling  “Parco Amicizia” I guess I could post some of them if anyone’s interested. (I’m really self-conscious about my writing even if it’s just bullet-points, so I can’t promise I won’t chicken out in a “Oh-no-this-is-actually-lame-and-I-shouldn’t-post-it-because-it’s-stupid-and-even-if-it-weren’t-however-I-describe-it-would-sound-stupid-because-I-suck-and-am-stupid” kind of way.) Mostly it would just be an excuse to draw fancy clothes.

Now I need to go make a (normal!)Sam. And then I don’t know what to do about tomorrow because I don’t even like westerns :(

Day 08: Tucker Foley

I was never happy with how Tucker’s story ended in Phantom Planet.(he’s what, 15? 16? year old mayor) I feel like his talents would have been better suited to being the head of a new GIW but instead of hunting ghosts the new organization would be in charge of maintaining peace between the zones and Tucker would be able to help Danny track rouge ghost activities and constructing new ecto-devices.

Okay, I’ve always secretly wanted this aspect of Tucker’s personality to be developed.

Tucker is a very relaxed, laid back, irresponsible, “just along for the ride” sort of chracter. He cracks jokes, frequently makes smart-ass observations, and fools around for attention at inappropriate times (i.e. horsing around with Skulker via his PDA instead of just powering him down - which lead to the plan nearly being ruined.)

He rarely ever takes things, even fights, seriously. And when something goes wrong, he pushes the blame on to someone else. (Again, One of a Kind: “”Ive decided to become your time manager. It’s the least I can do after Sam made me let all those ghosts out.” … “It’ll be my job to keep track of your schedule so you can do your schoolwork and catch all those ghosts that Sam let loose.”) Tucker genuinely does try to fix his mistakes and do the right thing (i.e.- being Danny’s time manager when he needs one) but he does not tone down on his tomfoolery even in dire situations, and he does not take the blame for them.

I just think that this is the perfect setup for some character development. I just wanted to see Tucker, in his usual hey-everyone,-watch-this! fashion, accidentally freeing a ghost or putting Sam and Danny in danger (or both). And Tucker scrambling to fix everything, but in the process, coming to a realization that his carelessness is what caused everything, and he has no one to blame for this but himself.

I can’t see him coming to this realization on his own, of course, but maybe someone else could point it out to him. After Danny and Sam are incapacitated/kidnapped by said ghost, Tuck goes to Valerie and asks for backup. They team up, but Valerie isn’t as lenient as Sam and Danny are; she quickly grows tired of Tucker’s flamboyant, careless, attention-seeking attitude, and tells him to shape up or stay behind, because otherwise, he’s gonna get them BOTH killed. She tells him if he wants to play games, then he should go home and get together with his DOOM internet buddies, and then she flies off, leaving him to think about what he’s done. Then, after some thinking, Tucker realizes she’s right, and he takes off after Valerie, and shows up just in time to save both her and Danny/Sam, and together the four of them take down the ghost.

I just think it would’ve added some depth to Tucker. Also, it would’ve been cool to see Tucker as a hidden badass. But alas, Tucker gets zip character development in the series.

I suppose there’s always hope for fanfiction.

this makes me thing of an angst plot that’s been circling my head, of Tucker and/or Sam making some Bug Huge Mistake they could have prevented but didn’t and Danny getting captured/tortured by GiW as a result (and being understandably pissed/unforgiving when he’s finally rescued)

Putting this idea into that plot, Tucker could cause the mistake, and character development could occur as Danny’s captured and they realize what will probably happen to him, and as Tuck’s carefree attitude slows them down - and then more development when he tries to make it up to Danny and sees the pain he’s caused for his friend

I want to steal this idea…No I’m definitely going to steal this idea from you guys. Is it stealable?
